I’m Maggie and in this video I’m going to show you a DIY craft that’s gonna help you to enhance the Nautical Adventure decal in the Ocean Wall series, by Wall Decal Source.
Now, as you can see, I have taken off the submarine decal because I’m going to take that and turn it into an awesome nightlight, so I hope you guys stay tuned. So this is the third video in the Nautical adventure video series.
I’m working with the Nautical Adventure decal that I explained back in video one.
If you didn’t see that, that’s totally fine. Just go back to the first video and then watch it and come back and see me and we’ll get started.
So for this project you’re going to need a few things:
- The cardboard that you’re gonna put the actual decal on
- An exacto-knife to cut out the cardboard
- A push light
- Command strips
- Hanging wire
- A hanging picture hook
- An inch-and-a-quarter stake – wood stake
- A glue gun
And then you’re ready to get started.
Alright, let’s get started with the first step, taking my exacto-knife and I’m going to trace the decal itself and push down enough to get through the actual cardboard.
Now that I’m done cutting out my decal – what do you think? – I’m going to take it and I’m gonna put it on my wall and find where I like it best. So I think I want him to be pointing down into the water. As if he was plunging down. And I think that’s perfect there. So I’ll make sure that I put everything on the back accordingly.
Back over here we’ll flip it over. Alright, so now that I have positioned my decal on the wall I’m going to actually take the wood stake and attach it to the decal, the back of the decal, with some hot glue. So on the back of the wood stake I have already put in a picture hanger, the picture hanger nail, so I’m going to take the other side and put it right here. And he’s going to be a little bit of a bugger so you have to push.
And then take the other end of the picture wire, I’m giving myself just about an inch of slack, to turn it back over and to wrap it around itself, so that it will hang nicely on the wall. I’m gonna actually go back to the wall and check it out and see if I like the angle and all of that.
Alright, so now that I’ve applied everything to the back of the decal, I’m gonna take it at put it on my wall and position it just right.
The neat thing about the light that we put on the back of this is that all you have to do is go up to your decal and press it, and turn off your light, and there you have it.
You should be very proud of your creation. It’s the coolest yellow submarine nightlight I’ve ever seen. Thank you guys so much for watching, I had a blast making the coolest yellow submarine nightlight and I hope you did too.
