Ocean Wall Decals – Nautical Adventure Do-It-Yourself Yellow Submarine Night Light

Nautical Adventure Ocean Wall Decal Do-it-yourself Yellow Submarine Night

Hey everyone!

I’m Maggie and in this video I’m going to show you a DIY craft that’s gonna help you to enhance the Nautical Adventure decal in the Ocean Wall series, by Wall Decal Source.

yellow submarine do it yourself night light

Now, as you can see, I have taken off the submarine decal because I’m going to take that and turn it into an awesome nightlight, so I hope you guys stay tuned. So this is the third video in the Nautical adventure video series.

I’m working with the Nautical Adventure decal that I explained back in video one.

If you didn’t see that, that’s totally fine. Just go back to the first video and then watch it and come back and see me and we’ll get started.

So for this project you’re going to need a few things:

  • The cardboard that you’re gonna put the actual decal on
  • An exacto-knife to cut out the cardboard
  • A push light
  • Command strips
  • Hanging wire
  • A hanging picture hook
  • An inch-and-a-quarter stake – wood stake
  • A glue gun

And then you’re ready to get started.

Alright, let’s get started with the first step, taking my exacto-knife and I’m going to trace the decal itself and push down enough to get through the actual cardboard.

yellow submarine do it yourself night light step 1 cut out decal

Now that I’m done cutting out my decal – what do you think? – I’m going to take it and I’m gonna put it on my wall and find where I like it best. So I think I want him to be pointing down into the water. As if he was plunging down. And I think that’s perfect there. So I’ll make sure that I put everything on the back accordingly.

Back over here we’ll flip it over. Alright, so now that I have positioned my decal on the wall I’m going to actually take the wood stake and attach it to the decal, the back of the decal, with some hot glue. So on the back of the wood stake I have already put in a picture hanger, the picture hanger nail, so I’m going to take the other side and put it right here. And he’s going to be a little bit of a bugger so you have to push.

yellow submarine do it yourself night light step 3 add picture hanger

And then take the other end of the picture wire, I’m giving myself just about an inch of slack, to turn it back over and to wrap it around itself, so that it will hang nicely on the wall. I’m gonna actually go back to the wall and check it out and see if I like the angle and all of that.

Alright, so now that I’ve applied everything to the back of the decal, I’m gonna take it at put it on my wall and position it just right.

The neat thing about the light that we put on the back of this is that all you have to do is go up to your decal and press it, and turn off your light, and there you have it.

You should be very proud of your creation. It’s the coolest yellow submarine nightlight I’ve ever seen. Thank you guys so much for watching, I had a blast making the coolest yellow submarine nightlight and I hope you did too.

Ocean Wall Decals – Nautical Adventure – Do-It-Yourself Cargo Net

Nautical Adventure Ocean Wall Decal Do-It-Yourself Cargo Net

In this video I’m gonna be showing you a DIY craft that’s gonna make our Nautical Adventure wall decal in the Ocean Wall Decals series by Wall Decal Source really pop.

I’m going to be taking this net and these shells and making everything tie together, so stay tuned.

cargo net-do-it-yourself-project

Some of you may be looking for some inspiration while others may be looking for a miraculous transformation with just a little bit of creativity and a shoe-string budget.

Well you are both in luck because with just the creativity I have in this little finger, I’m going to transform this wall decal from the Wall Decal Source and blow you into the water.

This is video number four in the Nautical Adventure series and if you haven’t seen video one where I took the Nautical Adventure wall decal then go back and view it and then once you’re finished come back and see me and we’ll get started.

So for this project the materials you’re going to need are your nautical net, some pretty sea shells, a paperclip or a wall hanger, as well as a glue gun to glue it all together.

cargo net - diy - project tools

And so now that we have all of our materials, let’s get started.

To begin this project you’re going to want to take your shell, or your starfish, and your paperclip, and take your glue gun, apply the glue to the back of the paperclip. Then you will stick the glue side of the paperclip to the starfish. Hold it just for a moment so that it dries, and then when we’re finished it will look something like this.

cargo net -diy - part 1 glue paperclip to starfish

And now, let’s go and cast our net. The next step is you want to decide where you actually want to hang your net.

Now we have some hooks going above the decal itself, and since I have the whale over on that side I wanted to even out and balance the amount that’s on the wall, with this net. So I’m going to take and bunch it up here on this hook.

cargo net - diy - cast your net

What’s great about this net is I can pretty much do it as many times as I choose to get the perfect way that I want it done. Let’s see… I’m going to pull this down. Very nice.

Now what I want to do is I want to take the ornaments if you will, and put them up on the net. I’m gonna grab one. So you’ll take your little ornaments here and you’ll just hook them like so to the net. And, I mean if that’s just not the coolest thing ever.

I love it, that’s so fun.

I think that looks really nice. I think that that fits perfectly with my Nautical Adventure theme.

cargo net - diy - adding ornaments

I had such a great time making this nautical net, I think it’s the coolest addition to this Nautical Adventure.

Wall Decal Installation – Ocean Wall Decals – Nautical Adventure

Nautical Adventure Ocean Wall Decal Series

Wall Decal Installation

Hey everyone! My name is Maggie and this is the first video of the Nautical Adventure wall decal of the Ocean Wall series by Wall Decal Source

And in this video I’m going to be showing you how to properly apply this wall decal to your wall.

To properly apply your wall decal to your wall, here are the materials that you’re going to want to have on hand.

ocean wall decal installation

  • So first off we have our scissors and the scissors are going to be used to cut each section of the wall decal out.
  • The next item that you’re going to want to have is your squeegee, now this came in the package with your wall decal and the instructions. And squeegee is going to help you get all the bubbles out from underneath the decal once you stick it on, because you’re gonna want to have a nice smooth surface.
  • Next is painters tape, now painters tape is a really forgivable tape because you’re able to stick on and take off with ease so that you can take your decal and put it anywhere you want to on the wall, and if you don’t like it then you can take it back off and do as many times as you see fit until you get the perfect placement.
  • Next you’re gonna have the installation instructions now these instructions I personally like because they give you numbered instructions with very detailed instructions for the novice DIYer like myself I just appreciate those specifics.
  • And then of course you’re going to want to have your wall decal.

And once you have all these things you are ready to get started.

ocean wall decal installation - prep - cut decals out

So now that I have the sections cut out I’m going to take my painters tape and actually start putting them on the wall so that I can see where I want them, and if I want to keep them in that spot.

So, I’ve used my painters tape to take all my little sea creatures and put them on the wall where I want them to go. And I actually printed this picture off of the Wall Decal Source website so I can have an idea of where they would best fit and how they would look for an underwater scene.

And now that I have taped each of these pieces up, I can start taking off the backing and applying them to my wall.

Alright, so now I want to tell you how to actually apply one of your larger decals from the set to your wall.

So first you want to make sure that you’re working with clean and dry hands so that you don’t put any smudges or anything on the decal itself.

And get to the fattest edge that you have, so on this actual whale I think the nose is the best place to start. So I’m going to take the edge and pull it back, and they you’re going to want to peel the backing behind and then gently put it on the wall.

ocean wall decal installation - sticking the decal to the wall

As you can see I had a little bit of a bubble, and I just undid it and put it back. That’s what’s nice about these wall decals is that they are easy to put on and take off. And just gently pull, and as I go I’m going to put pressure with my hand so that it does stick to the wall.

Now don’t worry about those bubbles, those bubbles are what we have the squeegee for, that we’re going to use

Once I finish pulling the backing off. Now you want to take your time because this can be ripped if you’re not careful. So here, and then there you go.

And then we’re gonna get our squeegee out, take your squeegee and gently move from the bubble towards the outside of the decal. Now my wall has a little bit of a texture to it, and that’s okay because from far away you’re not going to be able to see that.

ocean wall decal installation - application - using the squeege

You just want to get the most noticeable bubbles that you have out of the decal itself.

And… that looks great. So I’m very happy with the way that this turned out.

And there you go.

Ocean Wall Decals for Nursery – Nautical Adventure: Do-It-Yourself Monogram

nautical adventure with monogram

Ocean Wall Decals for Nursery

Hi. I’m Maggie and in this video I’m gonna show you some DIY projects that are going to help you to enhance the wall decal that’s behind me.

This decal is called the Nautical Adventure and it’s found in the Ocean Wall Decals series by Wall Decal Source.

By the end of this video I’m going to take this monogram and turn it into…

ocean wall decals for nursery

this monogram.

So I hope you stay tuned.

This is part four in the Nautical Adventure series.

If you didn’t get a chance to see part 1 that’s okay, just click here to go back and watch video one.

Once you’re finished, come back and see me and we’ll get started.

Alright so let’s get started. For this project you’re going to need a few materials, so let’s talk about them.

ocean wall decals for nursery

  • First things first is our sea glass gems, these are going to be used to make the monogram really pop, so you’re gonna want to take two colors. One color is gonna be for the actual monogram itself and the other is going to be for the background.
  • The next thing you’re gonna need are two types of glue. The Krazy glue is going to be used to put the sea glass gems down and then the glue gun is going to be used to actually put these fun little  shells here too create a fish, and the fish is going to help tie in our monogram to the rest of the decal.
  • Then we’re gonna need the wall hooks so that you can put these monograms up on the wall as well as the shells that you’re going to use for your fish for this monogram.

Now if you want to find out more about how to create this monogram, look back at our storybook video with Kristen, and Kristin will show you how to get this put together. You can watch Kristen’s video here

Last thing you’re gonna need is your water to stay hydrated and your phone because what mom doesn’t always need to be contacted, plus it has a nice little turtle on it that goes with our theme. So, let’s do it.

So to begin, we’re going to take our colored sea glass gem and outline the actual letter of the monogram. So we’re going to start at one end, and just outline as we go. Once we have this outlined and we know exactly how many gems we’re going to use, then we’ll start to put the glue down.

ocean wall decals for nursery

Alright, so now I am done with my blue gems that outlined my letter and I am moving on to the clear gems and make sure that you have enough Krazy glue because mine has run out, so I’m improvising by using the glue gun which can get a little bit messy but still it does the same thing.

Now I’ve finished adding on all my sea glass gems and I’m gong to now add on the fish made out of shells. And you want to take one of your smaller shells, that will be the tail, you want to add that guy first because he’s going to go underneath the bigger one. So it’s gonna look just like this. I’m gonna take my glue gun, glue it on. Maybe I’ll use a little more glue.

And I’m going to use my gems, and my frame to glue it onto. Almost like it pops out of the frame, like a 3D effect. And then I’m going to take my larger shell, and get it glued. And last but not least, the shell on top that will act as the fin of the fish. So I’m going to give you some time, go ahead and get the rest of your monograms done, and when you get finished come back and see me and we’ll hang them up on the wall.

Okay, so now we’re going to hang our monograms.

Ocean Wall Decals – Nautical Adventure Reveal

Nautical Adventure Ocean Wall Decal

Check out our Ocean Wall Decals – Nautical Adventure Series, we’ll show you how to use wall decals for kids rooms to give them their own personal touch.

I’m so excited, my wall decal just arrived in the mail from Wall Decal Source, and as you can see it is shipped in a triangular box. So let’s open it up and see what’s inside.

What you’ll find inside your box:

  • Your squeegee which is going to be used to actually make sure those air bubbles are out of your decal once it’s on the wall.
  • Your installation instructions to give you the best practices to make the decal look as nice on the wall as possible.
  • And We have the decal itself. As you can see since it was rolled up inside the box, you’re gonna need to take some time to flatten it out.

So my best suggestion would be to turn it over on the ground, put some heavy books, and take a nap or even overnight would be best.
